From Changye’s Dongguan facility — non-contact electrical-discharge cutting that machines what your drawing specifies, not what a catalog limits you to. Tight tolerances, sharp internal corners, and burr-free surfaces on the hardest conductive alloys.

Cutting metal with electricity, not blades

Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) erodes conductive material with a thin, electrically charged wire — there are no spinning tools, no contact, and no cutting force. The part sits submerged in deionized water while high-frequency sparks vaporize microscopic amounts of metal along a CNC-controlled path. The result is intricate internal contours, sharp corners and burr-free surfaces that conventional milling or turning simply cannot reach.

Precision without compromise

✓Stress-free cutting
of fragile and thin-wall parts — no distortion, no vibration.
✓Hard & exotic alloys cut regardless of hardness — carbide, Inconel, titanium.
✓Sharp internal corners and radii down to 0.05mm that milling cannot produce.
✓No special fixturing required — flexible setup and lower cost.
✓Lights-out production for predictable lead times on complex work.
✓Replaces up to 8 steps of conventional machining in a single process.

If it’s conductive and precise, we cut it

From mold cavities and stamping dies to micro-holes, fine nozzles, thin plates and difficult-to-machine alloys — Changye delivers single prototypes through high-volume stacked production, always to your drawing.

Changye Customization Advantage

Built to your drawing, not a catalog

Non-standard hardware is what we do. Our wire EDM capability is one pillar of a fully integrated precision workshop — so custom geometry never gets stuck waiting on an outside vendor.

01

Build to Drawing

We machine exactly what your specification defines — unlimited geometry, no SKU constraints.

02

Tight Tolerance

±0.005mm standard, with multipass trim cuts driving accuracy even finer on critical features.

03

Material Flexibility

Any conductive metal — from hardened tool steel to superalloys — cut with equal precision.

04

Low-Volume Friendly

Prototypes and single units with no setup penalty — scale to volume whenever you’re ready.

05

Lights-Out Production

Unattended, long-run capability keeps delivery predictable even on complex multi-cavity work.

06

Full Vertical Capability

EDM, CNC, stamping and forging under one roof — one accountable partner, no subcontractor gaps.

Materials We Cut

Anything electrically conductive

Wire EDM only requires conductivity — so hardness, brittleness or alloy chemistry are never a limitation. Common materials we run:

Tool & Die Steels

Post-hardening cuts with no distortion or stress.

Stainless Steel

Flat stock up to 5″ thick, same tolerance throughout.

Carbide & Tungsten

Cut without tool wear or micro-cracking.

Titanium & Inconel

High-strength alloys with stress-free edges.

Copper, Brass & Bronze

Electrodes and conductive precision components.

Kovar, Hastelloy & Exotics

Specialty alloys for medical and aerospace.

Our Projects

How It Works

From CAD to cut part in five steps

1

Program

Your CAD is converted to a wire path; upper and lower guides set the contour or taper.

2

Submerge & Thread

The part is submerged in deionized water and the brass wire is threaded under tension.

3

Spark Erosion

Rapid discharges vaporize material with no contact, minimizing heat-affected zones.

4

Skim Passes

Slower trim cuts refine accuracy and surface finish down to a mirror quality.

5

Inspect

CMM and optical verification against your drawing, then clean packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any electrically conductive material — tungsten carbide, hardened tool steel, titanium, Inconel, copper, brass and more. Non-conductive materials (e.g. most plastics) are not suitable.
Standard cutting tolerance is ±0.005mm, with internal corner radii down to 0.05mm and surface finish as fine as Ra < 0.2µm (mirror-finishing available).
No. Wire EDM is ideal for prototypes and single pieces as well as production runs — one part or ten thousand, with no tooling penalty for low volume.
Yes. As one of Changye’s six integrated pillars, Wire EDM is often paired with CNC machining, stamping or sheet metal in a single accountable workflow — no hand-off between vendors.
A 2D drawing (PDF/DWG) or 3D model (STEP/IGES) with tolerances, material, quantity and surface-finish requirements is enough to start.
